Faith in the City

In response to Jesus’s call to bring liberty to the captives and let the oppressed go free, churches across Baltimore are participating in “Housing For All” Sunday this July 31st and August 7th. The trickle down, private development that has been the status quo in Baltimore for decades has increased poverty, gentrification and homelessness across the city. To ensure that all Baltimoreans have truly affordably housing, community-driven alternatives are needed.

The Housing for All Baltimore Coalition is collecting 10,000 signatures to ensure that the creation of a housing trust fund is on the ballot for the November general election. This trust fund would receive on-going public funding for permanently affordable housing in Baltimore. It is part of a 20/20 vision for fair development in Baltimore. This vision calls annually for $20 million in public funds for demolition of vacants and greening, and $20 million in public funds for community-driven housing development, such as community land trusts.

Will you add your voice to the multitude committed to fair and affordable housing in Baltimore? Add your signature, as a registered voter in Baltimore City, to the petition after your Sunday service on July 31st.
